Emergency Department – Luton & Dunstable University Hospital

The project involved the delivery of the full fire stopping and intumescent paint package for the Emergency Department expansion at Luton & Dunstable University Hospital.

Commissioned by Willmott Dixon on behalf of Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the scheme delivered a modern, high-capacity A&E department, including a new hospital entrance, improved drop-off zones, and upgraded CT scanning facilities, designed to enhance patient accessibility, clinical efficiency, and emergency care.

GSI’s scope of works included the application of intumescent coatings to new structural steelwork, alongside the complete fire stopping package. All works were carefully phased and coordinated within a live hospital environment to ensure the Emergency Department remained fully operational throughout the construction period.
