Founded in 2005 by Graeme Waugh and Spencer Coomes, GSI has grown into a team of 25+ office staff and over 120 fire-stopping operatives, delivering 2,500+ projects across the UK. We’ve built long-standing client relationships and a reputation for reliability, expertise, and quality.

Graeme Waugh

Founder / Director

As a co-founder of GSI in 2005, Graeme Waugh has been at the forefront of the company’s growth and success. With over 35 years of experience in the construction and passive fire protection industry, he is a recognised expert in his field.

In his role as Director, Graeme oversees the commercial aspects of the business and plays a key role in ensuring projects are delivered seamlessly from enquiry to completion. His leadership and deep industry knowledge help drive GSI’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

Outside of work, Graeme is an avid runner and keen golfer. When he’s not on the course, he enjoys traveling and has visited many countries around the world.

Spencer Coomes

Founder / Director

Spencer Coomes is the Director and Co-Founder of GSI, having established the company in 2005. With over 30 years of experience in construction and passive fire protection, Spencer has been instrumental in shaping GSI into the thriving business it is today.

As Director, Spencer oversees all aspects of the business, ensuring smooth operations and providing strategic support to our team, particularly on large-scale contracts. His wealth of expertise and hands on approach have been key to delivering high quality solutions for our clients.

Outside of work, Spencer is a passionate horse racing enthusiast and a dedicated Arsenal fan. If he’s not at the race track, you’ll likely find him at the Emirates, cheering on the Gunners!

Daniel Hill

Commercial Director

With over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, our Commercial Director, Dan, has played a key role in GSI’s success since joining the business in 2015.

Having been with the company for over a decade, Dan is responsible for leading the commercial strategy, ensuring the seamless delivery of projects from enquiry to completion. He works closely with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to manage contracts, control costs, and optimise operational efficiency. His expertise ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Beyond project delivery, Dan is also responsible for managing and mentoring the internal GSI team.

Away from the GSI office, Dan is a keen golfer and enjoys nothing more than a day out on the course.

Deep Virdi

Operations Director

Deep brings over two decades of experience in the construction industry, combining a strong technical background with leadership expertise in his role as Operations Director at GSI.

A civil engineer by profession, he has been with GSI since 2020, overseeing all operational aspects and ensuring the successful delivery of projects across all of our contracts. Deep plays a key role in managing site teams, optimising processes, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and efficiency. He is also heavily involved in coordinating project designs, providing technical input to ensure practical, cost-effective, and high-quality solutions.

Outside of work, Deep is passionate about fitness and enjoys Muay Thai boxing, squash, and swimming.

Lyuben Tsenkov

Contracts Director

With extensive experience in the construction and passive fire protection industry, Lyuben brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role as Contracts Director. He joined GSI in 2008 and has since played a crucial role in overseeing the company’s operations, ensuring projects run smoothly and efficiently across all contracts. Lyuben works closely with site teams to maintain high standards, streamline processes, and ensure operatives are effectively deployed to support successful project delivery. A dedicated leader, he leads by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to every project.

Outside of work, Lyuben is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time with his loved ones. He has a passion for supercars and enjoys travelling to new destinations, often combining his love for adventure with hiking and exploring the outdoors.

Commercial Team

Daniel Coomes

Quantity Surveyor - IFE Level 2 PFP

Daniel Coomes is a valued Surveyor at GSI and has been a key part of the team since 2017. With a sharp eye for detail and strong commercial acumen, Dan is responsible for all aspects of the commercial side of our contracts. From estimating to managing the account, Dan works across projects from initial enquiry through to final handover. His work ensures that projects are not only accurately costed but delivered efficiently and within budget.

Daniel played a pivotal role in developing our internal system for recording works, an essential tool that underpins the smooth operation of our projects across the business. In addition to his commercial responsibilities, he regularly conducts site visits to ensure works are progressing as planned and remain on track both operationally and commercially.

Outside of work, Dan is a devoted family man and a passionate sports fan. He’s a dedicated supporter of Arsenal Football Club, rarely missing a match thanks to his season ticket.

Joe Waller

Trainee Quantity Surveyor

Joe is a Trainee Quantity Surveyor at GSI, currently completing his apprenticeship while studying for his university degree to become a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor. He is building a strong foundation in both the commercial and technical aspects of passive fire protection.

Working closely with the commercial team, Joe supports a range of responsibilities, including assisting with cost estimation, preparing tender documents, processing valuations, managing subcontractor accounts, and contributing to project measurement and cost reporting. His dedication and commitment to developing his skills make him a valuable part of the team.

Outside of work, Joe is a passionate rugby player and has played for Beaconsfield RFC for 15 years. As a dedicated hooker on the team, rugby has been a big part of his life and continues to be one of his greatest passions.

Sam Lewis

Operations Manager - IFE Level 3 PFP

Sam Lewis is GSI’s Operations Manager, bringing extensive expertise and a proactive, solutions-focused approach to every project. He is involved in all aspects of operations, from early client engagement and technical support to managing live projects on site, ensuring that each project runs smoothly and is delivered to the highest standard.

Sam’s hands-on leadership and broad industry knowledge enable him to coordinate teams effectively, maintain quality, and meet project objectives efficiently.

Outside of work, Sam is a devoted family man who enjoys spending quality time with his loved ones. He’s also a passionate football fan and a proud supporter of Watford FC.

Andrius Sikas

Contracts Manager

Andrius Sikas is one of GSI’s Contracts Managers, bringing extensive experience and expertise in the construction and passive fire protection industry. He is responsible for managing his allocation of projects, ensuring that all works are delivered on time, to the highest standards, and in full compliance with safety and quality requirements.

Andrius plays a key role in quality inspection and reporting, resolving any issues promptly and effectively. His consistency, strong work ethic, and practical knowledge make him a highly respected member of the operations team and a trusted leader across all sites.

Outside of work, Andrius enjoys travelling and has a passion for fishing, making the most of his time outdoors when he’s not on site.

Robert England

Contracts Manager

Robert England is one of GSI’s Contracts Managers, responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of passive fire protection works across multiple sites. He manages client relationships, supervises project delivery, ensures compliance with safety and fire regulations, and supports the implementation of new technologies and strategic solutions.

With extensive hands-on experience and deep technical knowledge in passive fire protection, Robert brings a practical and expert approach to every project. His understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements makes him a trusted leader in safeguarding both people and property.

Outside of work, Robert is always in search of his next outdoor adventure. Whether he’s exploring new trails, travelling far and wide, or riding the waves while surfing, he embraces life with energy and enthusiasm.

Contracts Manager

Ugnius Uzkuraitis joined GSI in 2025 as a Contracts Manager, bringing a wealth of knowledge in construction and passive fire protection. He is responsible for managing his portfolio of projects, ensuring works are delivered on time, to the highest standards, and in full compliance with safety and quality requirements.

Ugnius plays an active role in project coordination, quality inspections, and issue resolution, helping to ensure smooth delivery across all sites. His strong technical understanding, attention to detail, and structured approach make him a valued member of the operations team.

Outside of work, Ugnius is a keen technology enthusiast and gamer, with a strong interest in emerging hardware, digital innovation, and problem-solving within interactive environments.

Sonia Connage

Finance Manager

Sonia is GSI’s Finance Manager, responsible for overseeing the company’s financial operations and ensuring accuracy and consistency across all processes. From financial reporting and budgeting to supporting payroll and day-to-day finance activities, she plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth and efficient running of the business.

With extensive experience in the construction industry, Sonia brings a high level of expertise, attention to detail, and a structured approach to her role. She joined GSI in 2025 and has become a valued member of the team, supporting high standards across all financial processes.

Outside of work, Sonia is a self-confessed clean freak who enjoys going to the gym and socialising in her spare time.

Laura Davies

H&S & Projects Coordinator

Laura Davies is GSI’s H&S & Projects Coordinator, providing essential administrative support across all projects and ensuring health and safety compliance is maintained both on-site and in the office. She plays a key role in managing and optimising internal systems, supporting smooth project delivery and efficient operations.

With a strong understanding of both site and office operations, Laura’s attention to detail and commitment to process improvement help maintain high standards across GSI’s projects and day-to-day operations.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys cooking for others and loves coming up with new recipes to share with family and friends.

Olivia Meadows-Evans

Document Controller

Olivia Meadows-Evans leads GSI’s document control function, ensuring that all project documentation is accurately managed, maintained, and distributed in line with industry standards and client requirements. She plays a vital role in supporting compliance, tracking revisions, coordinating document flow between stakeholders, and maintaining clear records across all contracts.

With extensive experience across the Gas & Oil, Construction, and Aerospace sectors, Olivia brings exceptional knowledge, organisation, and precision to her role. Her attention to detail and commitment to quality help ensure GSI’s projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards.

Outside of work, Olivia is a passionate musician and plays the ukulele with the Hanwell Ukulele Group, performing at charity events and local music festivals, including the annual Hanwell Hootie.

Jayne Baldwin

Office Administrator

Jayne is GSI’s Office Administrator, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the office and providing essential support to the team. She manages everything from order deliveries and site paperwork to booking inductions and keeping the team organised, demonstrating a proactive and highly efficient approach to her role.

Known for her attention to detail and can-do attitude, Jayne helps maintain a well-structured and supportive work environment, enabling the team to deliver projects effectively.

Outside of work, Olivia is a passionate musician and plays the ukulele with the Hanwell Ukulele Group. The group regularly performs at charity events and local music festivals, including the Hanwell Hootie – an annual free music event held at pubs, churches, and parks throughout Hanwell, Ealing.

Compliance Administrator

Simran is GSI’s Compliance Administrator, responsible for ensuring that all on-site works are fully compliant with industry standards and regulations. She oversees the accurate recording, organisation, and management of compliance documentation, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of every project.

Simran works closely with our external compliance team to maintain the golden thread of information throughout all projects, ensuring transparency and adherence to best practice at every stage. Her attention to detail and commitment to high standards are central to her role.

Outside of work, Simran is a skilled part-time home baker, creating exceptional cakes that the GSI team enjoy.

Business Development & Social Value Manager

Robyn is GSI’s Social Value & Business Development Manager, responsible for driving business growth while ensuring the delivery of meaningful social value outcomes. She maximises sales and marketing opportunities, generates new business, and works closely with internal teams and clients to design, manage, and implement social value initiatives that align with project objectives and community needs.

Robyn’s proactive approach, strong communication skills, and dedication to creating positive impact are central to her role and the success of GSI’s projects.

Outside of work, Robyn is a self-confessed reality TV enthusiast, with TOWIE as her chosen Mastermind topic. She also enjoys spending time on family holidays, particularly when there’s sunshine and cocktails involved.
